Having a profession that helps others and allows me to express myself as an artist has always been my goal. Being a hair stylist, I can help others build self confidence and take pride in themselves. Being Redken Certified in Haircolor and Design, I can offer the highest technical competency in the beauty industry along with a natural passion for color and design to each guest. As a Redken Artistic Educator, I have the opportunity to travel to salons and share with my peers all that is Redken and help them grow their business and inspire change. We also have a lot of fun at hair shows. I have to say, Life is GOOD!!!!!
Color needs to create an emotion and spark conversation!
Creativity is a funny subject. For me there is not much that doesn't inspire me. I used to think that creativity wasn't something you could just turn on. I realized recently that to channel my creative side I need to go back to being a kid. Remember what it was like not to have a care in the world and question everything in sight. What it was, how it got there, why it leaned to the right instead of left, did it have special powers, was it the door to a secret room, what do the trees talk about when the wind blows? This is the state of mind which inspires new ideas and approaches to hair color and all aspects of my life. It is also the cure for a stressfull day.
I would drop to the floor and thank the Hair Gods for sending me a "first timer". Seriously though, if my guest seemed a little apprehensive, I would recommend a glaze using Shades EQ Color Gloss. Shades EQ is America's #1 demi-permanent, no lift, non-ammonia hair color which doesn't require a huge commitment because it will fade on tone with no line of demarcation or noticeable regrowth.
Absolutely! That is the reason I became a colorist. Our consultation always begins by identifying skin tone, facial shape, and eye color. Then we get to bounce ideas off each other about the look we will create as a team. My guests laugh at me and call me the "Mad Scientist" when I am formulating and mixing their special reciepe. I take pride in watching each guest walk out of my studio with head held high and ready to strut their stuff.
The #1 reason guests leave thier hair stylist is fear of change. That stylist has been creating the same look for so long and scared to offer new ideas. I sit down and have the same conversation with returning color guests as I do with new ones. Because they are returning guests, I have a sense of their personality and tastes. This allows me show them pictures of different directions we could go and keep them informed of what's happening with fashion that season. Previous formulas are always on file for those who were blown away by their last visit and would love to recreate that look a few more times.
