When I was in High School I started experimenting with my own haircolor.
I started working with color as an assistant hairstylist over 20 years ago. Color intrigued me so I took classes to learn more. My family relocated and after several years away from the salon, I decided that I was ready to return to my love of working with hair and haircolor. I started taking color classes through REDKEN about 4 years ago locally and at The Exchange in NYC. I believe in continuing your education, you can always learn something new and you never know when you might need it. I am pleased to join other REDKEN Certified Haircolorists as of March, 2011.
When I perform a color service, the first step for me is always a consultation. I want to get to know the new client and check in with my regular clients prior to mixing any formulas. I work with the client to understand their expectations and what is realistic for an end result. We discuss their lifestyle and how this will affect the required maintenance for their color to look it's best. I will make suggestions for home product choices so the client can enjoy color retention and healthy hair. I work with a client on alternative ideas for color, when I believe that the requested service is not attainable or not in the client's best interest for their hair. Once I determine the process for how I will achieve the desired results, I may pre-treat the hair using PreArt and Hair Cleansing Cream. Following the color process, I perform the REDKEN Chemistry System that I customize for the client.
There are lots of things, nature, new colors, client energy. It helps when a client wants to try something different.
Start off with where your color comfort zone is now, when you're ready we can try something new.
Absolutely, I consult with each client and work with them toward our goal. For example, when I perform a corrective color I may use several techniques to attain a more desired look during the grow out process. Each person is unique in their needs.
Amy Adams has great hair. The color is beautiful, she wears very client friendly looks.
I treat my returning clients with the same care as my new clients, we just know each other a little better. I assess each client before mixing any chemicals.
My style is down to earth but not so much that I won't try something edgy. I love natural looks, but I love to work with vibrant reds and coppers too. Since I perform personalized hair treatments with my color clients, I book extra time to perform the work. Clients know they can expect personalized treatment and these services may require additional time depending on their hair needs.
