QUESTION OF THE MONTH -- JULY

My wife has a beauty salon and she wants to know some tips for creating updos for extremely long hair.
 
Updo's are a great style to sweep hair away from the face and shoulders. To create a great summer updo follow these steps below:
  1. Prep hair with Redken blown away 09 blow-dry gel and blow-dry hair so that hair is smooth.
  2. Separate hair into two sections from ear to ear in the middle of the crown.
  3. Take hair that is in the back section and brush it back into a tight high ponytail using a rubber band.
  4. Twist the hair from the back section around the rubber band and create a bun and secure using bobby or hair pins.
  5. Using the hair in the front - leave a one inch section out and wrap remaining hair around the bun area.
  6. Take the remaining one inch section and apply a small amount of align 12 protective straightening lotion then braid hair.
  7. Bring braid to the back towards the ear and secure it in the bun area.
  8. Finish the look with quick dry 18 instant finishing spray.

Most memorable people you’ve worked with and why:

  • Photographers: Robert Lobetta because he  is the most creative photographer I have ever worked with
  • Designers: Rosa Cha – She has an incredible sense of design and creates  beautiful pieces for every woman
  • Models:  Naomi Campbell – She is such a detail oriented person that everything has to be perfect
  • Celebrities:  Prince – he is  such an eccentric and an incredible song writer, it was exhilarating to be around him.

Who is the one person you’d love to work with?  Cate Blanchett. I respect her as an actress

Where do you get your inspiration from?  I get inspiration from reading.

What motivates you to keep going? I enjoy what I do, so that in itself keeps me going

Most memorable mishap on a shoot/fashion show/ or with a celebrity? One of my clients lost her 20 carat canary diamond ring she was planning to wear to an event when I was doing a house call.. It was a bit of a stressful situation, but I managed to find another piece of jewelry to fit her outfit.

Must-have hair product you use on yourself? Redken outshine 01 anti-frizz polishing milk

What tools do you need with you when working?  Curling Iron, Flat Iron and Mason Pearson Brush. A couple bobby pins.
