Redken's "Reinvent Your Space" Makeover contest

 

Congratulations to Michelle Kay, owner of Fifth Avenue Salon in Louisville, Kentucky, grand prize winner of the Redken Reinvent Your Space Makeover contest of $20,000 and 2 tickets to Redken Symposium 2009 in Las Vegas!

We would like to share Michelle's essay and salon photographs with you:

"A huge car dealership came in and bought the shopping center we were in and forced us to move last December.   We were not prepared to make a move since we still had time on our lease but the attorney said the new owner had more money than God and was prepared to force us out.  I was in the middle of a divorce after being married for 18 yrs.  I needed to find a place to live and relocate my business all at the same time.  Because of our client base, we needed to stay within 1 mile of old location.  We were right across from the best shopping in Louisville and right off the major highway.  We pulled people from 2 to 3 hours away because they would come to the mall to shop at least once a month.  We found this 1970's style salon that had been closed for over a year.  Everything is Formica and everything was pink, purple and mauve.  We had to finish off the spa side of the building because it was an empty shell and had no place for our spa people to work.  This greatly depleted our funds.  We painted and did what we needed to do to get moved and open for the holidays.  Needless to say we painted again, replaced carpet and it's still very dated. Every time we do something to try to spruce the place up, it comes out looking worse than it did before.  We need help bad.  It looks like you are stepping into the 70's when you walk in the door and I hate it.  It's hard for me to get excited about the salon because of the way it looks.  We all have great attitudes and even play 1970's music on some days.  I think we need to dress from the 70's as well.  It's really not funny.  We are just trying to make the best of the situation.  Please help me and my team.  We love Redken and I have attended your classes at the Symposium every time I go.  I have your book and refer to it on a daily basis, but I need you.  I'm totally frustrated with the situation."

"Redken Says I Do" Bridal Sweepstakes

Jamie Gillespie of Winter Park, Florida was the lucky winner of Redken’s Bridal Sweepstakes. Top Redken salon, Sandra Williams in Wellington, FL, provided wedding day hair styling for the bride, her mom and the entire bridal party, including the men!

Sandy Besse, the salon owner, and her stylist team led by Linda Harder, created styles suited for each individual. The looks were kept simple and understated with most of the women opting for long, loose waves styled with Redken touch control 07 volumizing texture whip and workforce 09 flexible volumizing spray. 

The bride chose an updo with loose cascading curls, finished off with forceful 23 super strength finishing spray for long-lasting hold.
