No matter your hair type or texture, we’re willing to bet you’ve had to deal with frizzy hair at some point or another. And when it comes to fighting frizzy hair, there’s no shortage of options available…all of which are very different. So, we asked Redken Artist Lindsey Olson to weigh in on the pros and cons of two common options: In one corner, in-salon keratin treatments, in the other, at-home frizz-fighting products. IN-SALON KERATIN TREATMENTS
This frizzy hair treatment isn’t new, though it continues to be a popular option for many. The in-salon service can sometimes involve a formaldehyde-releasing solution (which is applied to your hair before it’s blow-dried and flat-ironed) that completely straightens your hair, smoothing down any frizzy hair along with it. The end result is super, super sleek—and is going to stay like that for several months. While some people appreciate that type of semi-permanence, it does mean that you’ll be limited in how you can style your hair afterward, notes Olson.
