Summer festivals are a fun place to try out a trendy hairstyle. In this how-to hairstyle tutorial video, Redken Stylist, Emily Heser, shows you how to create this easy updo. Keep cool and look chic with this crown braid/dutch braid updo.
Start with day 2 hair for added grip and texture.
List Mist Redken Beach Envy Volume Wave Aid all over hair to give it a beachy texture and refresh waves.
Create a side part and lightly fingercomb through the hair to get out any tangles.
Start with the front section on the thicker side of the part and begin the crown braid by splitting a small section into 3 smaller sections and crossing them over each other in a braid.
Pull in additional sections as you move down the length of the hair and continue the braid.
Take the braid to the nap of the neck and secure the braid and the remainder of the hair into a low side ponytail, using a clear elastic.
Roll the lengths of the ponytail into a side bun. Secure it with bobby pins until it feels held in place.
Gently pull the bun to create a messy look.
Use Redken Powder Grip 03 mattifying hair powder to amp up the volume and give the hair even more texture. Apply it to the braid and the bun.
Create a chunkier braid by pulling the braid gently to give it a fuller appearance.
Secure the look with Redken Control Addict 28 high hold hairspray.
