I have dark brown thick, coarse hair that leans to the wavy side. It is now cut below my ears in a semi-inverted wedge with bangs. A professional can blow-dry it to look very smooth, which I like. At home I blow-dry then flat iron but am still unsuccessful at achieving this look. I would love your expert opinion on what would be the right routine and products from shampooing to styling. I look forward to your help in solving my crisis--I want to LOVE MY HAIR! TIP: For a detailed step-by-step and visual demonstration on the best way to blow-dry your hair, check out the Redken Hair Files, a how-to guide for stylish hair everyday. For your hair type start with Redken Smooth Down Shampoo and Conditioner. Emulsify shampoo at the scalp to cleanse and extract natural oils then follow by rinsing with cool water. On damp hair spray fabricate 03 heat-active texturizer and evenly distribute follow with blown away 09 blow-dry gel and comb through for even distribution. These products will help prevent dryness while giving the desired straight smooth finish maintaining softness to the hair. Blow dry your hair using a flat brush or a large round brush holding the hair on the brush with firm tension to reduce frizz. Dry from roots to ends to seal the cuticle and provide maximum smoothness and shine. Be sure to have a nozzle on your blow dryer so it’s easier to direct the air where you want it. Start underneath and work your way up the head section by section. Allow hair to cool down on the brush for la longer lasting effect. Where needed finish-off your style with a flat iron. Try to stick with an iron with Ionic or Tourmaline technology and lightly finish with workforce 09 flexible volumizing spray for polish and hold. Best of luck, Cheers! Rodney
