GREASY, OILY, DIRTY HAIR, OH MY! ROCK SECOND DAY HAIR WITH 7 HAIR STYLES FOR GREASY HAIR

Whether you’re trying to give your hair a break from heat styling or don’t have time to shampoo, there’s no shame in rocking second day hair. While you might feel tempted to throw on a hat or toss your hair into a traditional ponytail, don’t! We’re all about embracing second day hair with these creative hair ideas for greasy hair days. With the help of a little dry shampoo and a few styling aids, no one will even notice that you skipped out on washing your hair.

1. CROSSED BRAIDS

Play up your natural texture by braiding two pieces of hair into crossed braids. To give your braids the chunky definition they need, grab two sections from the hairline and apply Powder Grip. Begin braiding and stop halfway to join the braids together at the back of your head using an elastic. Wrap a piece of hair below the base of the braids to conceal the elastic. To help keep hair in place throughout the day, mist the braids with Max Hold Hairspray and leave the rest of your hair down.

2. LOW CHIGNON

For crazy mornings when you can’t even, there’s the low chignon bun. Give second day hair a boost and spray the roots with Quick Tease while lifting the hair with a teasing comb. Next, create a deep side part and gather your hair together at the nape your neck. Embrace the messy look by twisting the hair, rolling it to one side and pinning it into place. Pull a few pieces of hair out for undone, cool-girl texture leading to a hair style that won't show the greasy hair underneath.

3. SIDE-SWEPT SWING BRAID

Add a new spin on the classic braid with this side-swept variation. Start by parting hair off to one side. Begin weaving the hair downward into a waterfall braid toward your ear. Pull pieces of hair from the other side to add to the braid. When you reach the end, lightly tug at the braid to make it look even bigger. Make the hair glisten by spraying it with Shine Flash. What makes this look ideal for second day hair is the way it conceals oily roots.

4. BOBBY PIN TRIANGLE BUN

If the thought of pulling your hair into a topknot seems boring, why not add a fun twist by accessorizing? Gather hair into a loose ponytail at the nape of the neck and pull it halfway through so that the ends peek out at the bottom. Add your own flair to the look by pinning bobby pins to the back of your head in the pattern and color of your choice. Bobby pin hair art makes for a chic yet unexpected surprise that’s sure to turn a few heads. Lock in the messy look by spraying hair with Control Hairspray.

5. DOUBLE TWIST PONYTAIL

Change up how you get ready in the morning with a lived-in textured pony. To get the look, add tousled texture at the roots by applying Deep Clean Dry Shampoo and working it into the hair with your fingers. Next, secure the top half of your hair with an elastic. Create a hole above the elastic using your finger, then pull the hair through the hole. Make a second ponytail at the nape of your neck, and pull it through the hole above the first ponytail. Pull out a few pieces of hair in the front and mist hair with Brushable Hairspray to finish.

6. TWISTED FISHTAIL BRAID

You can never go wrong with a sleek fishtail braid. Fake the look of freshly washed hair by sweeping hair into a low ponytail at the base of the neck and securing with an elastic. Make a hole above the elastic and pull the ponytail through. This will create the twist at the top of the braid. Fishtail braid as normal using Braid Aid for extra grip. You can also enhance the braid’s shine by applying Diamond Oil Glow Dry through the hair.

7. MESSY BUN

Bedhead doesn’t have to be a bad thing once it gets turned into a messy bun. Recreate it by sectioning off the bottom half of your hair with an elastic. Working with the top half of the hair, begin twisting one inch pieces of hair into coils and pinning it to the back of the head. Once you finish with the top half, untie the bottom section and continue pinning the remaining pieces of hair. As you pin the hair, apply Fashion Work and layer the spray for increased control. Hot tip: to score major volume in the front, gently pull apart the pinned twists. This can help create texture and give the illusion of lift, making this the perfect hair style for greasy hair.
